2021 French American Innovation Day (FAID)

The Service for Science and Technology from the Embassy of France in the US is organizing the French American Innovation Day (FAID) with the Harte Research Institute taking place September 13th, 15th, and 17th, 2021.

The objective of a FAID is to bring together French and American leading-edge players: researchers from the public and private sectors, professors, startups and companies of all sizes (including international ones), as well as doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows, in order to collaborate and accelerate research on a given set of topics. Typically, a FAID facilitates the creation of new links, and sometimes leading to recruitments (e.g. post-doctoral students) or the signing of contracts.

This FAID 2021, entitled Science for the Environment, will be a virtual event (does not exclude exploratory missions as soon as this is possible) and devoted to three main themes (below). We are particularly interested in presentations that will highlight holistic, sustainable, circular, bio-inspired and/or biomimicry approaches.

  • Innovations in Energy – Wind, solar and alternative energy sources and meeting the challenges of efficiency, environment and economics.
  • Resilience in the Built Environment – How do we balance population growth, economic development and the environment in the face of climate change.
  • Water and the Environment – innovations and challenges in water management, waste management, and recycling in balance with the health and productivity of the waters that surround us.
