Larissa is a Doctoral Candidate under Dr. Xinping Hu in the Coastal and Marine Systems Science program at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She received a B.S. in Biology from the University of Texas and an M.S. in Biology at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and worked as a Community College Instructor and Biologist before pursuing her Ph.D.

Her research focuses on carbonate chemistry of estuarine waters in the northwestern Gulf of Mexico and the factors influencing this chemistry. Larissa is also a recipient of the 2020 NOAA Graduate Research Fellowship, for which she works with stakeholders to better understand and model the dynamic nature of alkalinity and ocean acidification in Texas estuaries.
